We may have finished Mental Health Awareness Week, (9 May – 15 May) but we should not forget about it, we must keep raising the awareness. The theme for the week was ‘loneliness’.
According to the Mental Health Foundation it is widely known that Mental Health dominates the news and our daily lives, this is not just a subject that should be on the agenda for a week; as a HR Outsourcing provider we fully believe it should be on all Employer’s agendas all of the time, after all, it involves your people, aside from that personally I feel passionate that individuals are overlooked, with so many discriminated against, and the subject widely misunderstood.
I have taken a read at the statistics here from MHFA England and the current picture is not good at all, it is alarming and shocking, to be honest, I would urge you to take a few minutes to read the statistics, regardless of whether you are an Employer, after all, mental health impacts us all, at work, at home, our children, friends, and families, it is far-reaching and affects us all.
Crucially, as an Employer, you really can take proactive steps to make your workplace, your HR, and other relevant policies and procedures so much better.
How can you do this?
We see so many companies that have or are introducing, webinars on the subject of M/H or wellbeing, I do not want to be negative here, but this does not help with the fundamentals.
Employers thinking what people want rather than asking what is needed is foolish and will never work.
Only by gaining a true understanding of what employing people and creating the right working environment actually means, along with this how to bring out the best in your people and creating a culture that encourages open and honest dialogue, sadly, many workplaces fall short of encouraging and or doing so.
We can help you in your business, this can be to create a culture that reflects your people, how they want and need to work, and your policies and procedures which should reflect your business and work for you, we can help you achieve your goals and can do so working with you in many ways, many clients opt to work with us on a retained basis but some do choose to work with us on a project basis, the beauty of choosing this option is we work with you to achieve a particular project or task only. You will have complete peace of mind that we have the relevant experience in projects and as such are best placed to help you achieve your goals.
